What is a Landing Page?

Nov 3rd, 2011

A Landing Page is a particular (X)HTML page, generally developed to promote one single product or service with a unique Call-To-Action.

Landing Pages are uniquely designed and highly optimized to either capture a visitor’s information via a form or to specifically entice further action like the click on a Buy Now button.

While – in theory – “every page is a Landing Page”; to target and attract a particular audience and/or to promote a single product or service, a successful Landing Page needs to be very carefully crafted.
This usually means stripping or at least limiting the display of distracting elements like navigation and decorative items while focusing on trust-building elements and unique value propositions.
